Are you a Rolls Royce or a
Toyota?
Did you know that it takes over six months to build a Rolls
Royce? Six Months! Even then before it can roll off the assembly line, a highly trained
technician listens to the engine for eight hours straight with a stethoscope, trying to
detect the slightest imperfection. If they find even one small thing wrong - back to the
shop it goes for days of more fine-tuning.
Did you know it only takes thirteen hours to build a Toyota?
Six months on a Rolls Royce. Thirteen hours on a Toyota. Looking
back over the past year, if your relationship with God was a car, which one would you say
that you are?
Some of us are a lot like a Toyota. We are in a hurry to roll off the assembly line and
dont want to spend much time developing ourselves by spending time talking with God
or reading his word. And if for whatever reason some issues come up, we just ignore them
and keep on going.
Others of us are like a Rolls Royce. We make a personal commitment to excellence. Spending
however long it takes to work out any imperfections that may pop up. These Rolls
Royces are by no means perfect, but when an issue does arise, we make sure we
handle it properly, so we keep running smoothly.
Regardless of being a Rolls Royce or a Toyota, here are a few things that will tune up
your faith in Christ.
Let go of the things that are holding you back.
What do you need to let go of? What is it that is holding you back? Maybe it is a bad self
esteem, hurts from the past, mistakes that youve made or habits that are not
healthy. Whatever it might be if it is holding you back - let it go! Holding onto
these things is only going to clog up your spiritual motor and eventually get you out of
the race.
Keep your focus on Christ.
When you are driving a car, you will go in the direction you are looking. There are a lot
of things demanding your time, energy and attention. With all of these things coming at
you, make sure that you always keep your eyes focused on Christ and his principles for
your daily life. In every thing that you choose to do make sure it lines up with how
Christ says to live.
Be Patient change doesnt always happen overnight.
The race that you are in is a long one. In fact it will last your entire lifetime. So be
patient. Be faithful in going to church. Spend time alone with God, reading his word or
talking to him in prayer. Let him guide you in the decisions that you make. And if you do
those things, you will be everything God intended you to be.
Scripture to study & reflect:
Hebrews 12:1-3
Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything
that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the
race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our
faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from
sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart?
