Relationships ---- Looking for a 10 ?

Discover who you are, not what you want.

It's important that in high school, you discover who you are as a person, not what you want in a boyfriend or girlfriend.

One of the main things you need to establish during this time is your relationship with God. He created each of us to first and foremost have a relationship with him. When God created the world, he created all living things in groups, he made lots of them- except man. He created just one man. He made Adam first, then later he made Eve. So even at the beginning of the world, God was showing us that our relationship with him has to come first. It's our relationship with God that completes us- not our dating relationships. So especially at this time in your life, you need to make your relationship with God a priority.

I'm not saying 'don't date', but I am saying your focus should be on finding out who you are as an individual and strengthening your relationship with God. So, if you are dating someone- enjoy it. Be a good date. Have fun. But don't let yourself get so wrapped up in that relationship, that you let that person or relationship define who you are.

If you aren't dating someone right now, don't sweat it. The pressure to have a boyfriend or girlfriend can be really strong, but just know that the world isn't going to run out of options for you. Use this time to develop yourself and your relationship with God.

Remember, if someday you want to get a guy or girl who is a '10', you need to be a '10' yourself. This is the time for you to develop yourself to be a person that will attract the type of guy or girl that you want to have a relationship with.

Focus on discovering you who are, rather than what you want.
