Have cracks needing repair
?
It has become common practice for the purchasers of real
estate to submit their offer to purchase subject to various conditions, one of which is a
property inspection. Property inspections are very helpful to the 'average' buyer because
the professional inspector will often see defects and problems that may be missed by a
casual observer, especially a buyer who has become 'emotionally attached' to a house. An
inspector might note a safety hazard such as a exposed, live
buss bar at the electric panel -- but a hazard that is easily fixed. Even serious problems
can be corrected inexpensively to protect both life and property. Usually inspectors will
find more maintenance recommendations and minor imperfections than major problems ... and
thus your inspection will hopefully give the buyer peace of mind.
Sometimes the home inspector will find presently small
issues that will lead to major defects if not resolved, such as a small roof-flashing
leak, or even carpenter ants or termites. Yet, there are times when the home inspector
will come upon major defects that could lead to structural failure, such as a huge crack
in the foundation. A buyer may have "fallen in love" with a house and really
wants to buy it --- but with a poor foundation, the house isn't worth much, especially in
earthquake prone areas like California where the slightest earthquake would crack it in
two and your new house is down the hill.....
Foundations aren't seen, but they're essential to a sturdy home. Foundations are also critical to people. Many people try to live life without a firm foundation. Often these people look great and appear to be happy, until one of life's inevitable storms or quakes hit them. Nobody is immune from the storms of life ...... lose a job, your company closes or moves the division to another state, death of a spouse, a child or a best friend, receive a major injury at work or in an auto accident or around the house, or your spouse tells you that he or she no longer loves you and doesn't want to continue the marriage.
So what would a 'inspector' conclude about your foundation
as an individual, a student, as a father a mother, a husband or wife, a brother or sister,
a grandfather or grandmother, a supervisor or employee, a CEO or cleaning lady? What is
the foundation upon which your life is built upon? Is your foundation steadfastly bolted
to the rock of God?
