Senior SWAT Mission Week 2010
Nashville Tennessee

It was an absolutely awesome week serving the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church in Nasvhille. It was hotter than hot and most days the outside crews were no less wet than had they stood under a shower, but our team of 60 went, we served and we were the hands and feet of Christ. We really enjoyed getting to know Horace Bass and his grandson Matthew along with the Lime Green Old Guys from St Mark's UMC in Murfreesboro Tennessee.....and a huge THANK YOU to Nashville's First Church of the Nazarene for letting us utilize their showers each afternoon. Special thanks and JOB WELL DONE to our College Counselors Tyler, Tess and Abby and again a huge thank you for the adult volunteers who traveled with us --- Paul, Sue, Brian, Scott, Karen, Beth, Christy and Pastor Bob! We missed you Chuck, Robin and Tom.
We went to serve in Christ's and Epworth's name.... but the fact is we aren't the same people who left Toledo to serve in Nashville. As always, we received more than we can ever give..... and we have new friends and memories that will last forever and the realization that we are all blessed and rich in our lives and we are each a unique creation of the God who loves each of us for whom we are.

Junior SWAT Mission Week 2010
Youngstown/Warren Ohio

It was an awesome week serving the United Methodist Community Center in Youngstown/Warren Ohio. We've heard many of our Youth say it was the best week ever! We really enjoyed having 5 new friends on the Mission Week..... Special thanks and JOB WELL DONE to our High School Counselors Brighton and Hunter and our College Counselors Abby and Tess and again a huge thank you for the adult volunteers who traveled with us --- Teri, Cheryl, Susan and Brian!
40 SWAT Team Members served the United Methodist Community Center in Warren Ohio..... we cleaned and sealed approximately 10,000 sq ft of driveway and parking lot with 360 gallons of asphalt sealer .... which weighed nearly 5000 lbs...... we painted lamp posts ... removed brush, weeds and trees from the property.... weeded and trimmed the huge flower beds we created 4 years ago and re-spread cypress mulch, degreased kitchen walls and cleaned out gutters that were overflowing and damaging their exterior walls......
Those are the facts of what we physically did..... but it doesn't tell the story of the community kids that we got to interact with and play scatter ball and dodge ball and basketball and just hung out with!
The facts don't tell the story of how excited the kids were to have a grilled outside lunch of hamburgers and hotdogs along with balloons and face painting..... we take grilling out for granted ---- they acted as it was a fabulous gift! We had a few extra t-shirts we gave them and they acted as if we gave them a new wardrobe. We went to serve in Christ's and Epworth's name.... but the fact is we received back more than we can ever give! Sure we expended about $2000 of Youth Missions for materials..... but we got back far more. Forty youth and adults gave 5 days of our time to a neighborhood in Warren Ohio ---- but we have memories that will last forever and the realization that we are all blessed and rich in our lives.
